Someone fraudulently signed me up for pet insurance for their dog "Simba"

I received a confirmation email from Pets Best for an insurance policy for a dog named Simba. The scammer provided them with my name, physical address, email, and phone number. I created an account on the Pets Best website to get more information, and I see that a credit card was provided that was not my own. I emailed customer support to ask them to cancel the plan. I also plan to file a report with the FTC. Meanwhile, my credit is already frozen with the three major credit bureaus, and I have identity monitoring through my bank. Is there anything else I need to do? Has this happened to anyone else? What was the outcome?

pet insurance experience? probable chushings disease in 9 yo dog.

I’m don’t have Pets Best; but I’m not seeing any reason they wouldn’t pay. This is what it’s for. Submit the claim.

Someone fraudulently signed me up for pet insurance for their dog "Simba"

The same exact thing just happened to me (just joined reddit to respond to your post), and it's very strange. Before calling, i tried the "forgot password" link to reset the password, but it kept saying "error". I confirmed Pets Best was an actual company. I called Pets Best - old info was provided and I checked everything to make sure nothing was charged. I already filed it with the FTC and filed a policy report, with previous precautions already put in place. The associate mentioned that they just got off a call where someone else experienced the same thing. I'm not sure how it's scamming if they provide actual contact information. They took my actual number and provided a reference number. The associate said they were going to forward to their fraud department. Beware out there.

Someone fraudulently signed me up for pet insurance for their dog "Simba"

Hey, glad I came across this as I also received an email confirming an insurance policy for a non existent pet as far as I know. I don't own any pets. It does look like someone used my info. based off the application but I'm confused as to why they added my email when they should've added theirs so that they can receive the documents? All that to say, I'm a little skeptical about whether this is legit or scummy ploy by Pets Best to talk to them. As for now, I'm going to wait a few days before contacting Pets Best to report this.

Someone fraudulently signed me up for pet insurance for their dog "Simba"

I dealt with this 2 weeks ago with Pets Best and someone had taken a full policy out for a pet I don't have. Thankfully I just called and it was painless to have them cancel it. This morning I woke up to FOUR different emails from different pet insurance companies with quotes I didn't request for a different pet I don't have!! The weirdest part is that the one policy that had been made didn't use my card? I froze my accounts and I've been monitoring since but my financials don't seem to be a part of it. It's still creepy that someone is using my name, email, and home address. I just finished my calls to the different companies to let them know this is happening, take me off all the lists, etc and I cited this reddit thread to alert them to an ongoing scam they should be aware of!!

CCL Tear

Hi! Coming on here because since last Thursday I have not been able to stop thinking about this 😭 My 69 lb, 4 year old Lab has a suspected torn CCL in her back left leg. Right now we’re doing conservative management while I save up for TPLO. Her injury was from a traumatic event. I think I can manage the cost of surgery within the next few months (I already have some savings started), but I am absolutely terrified of the possibility of her needing a second TPLO on the other leg… I live in rural Tennessee and don’t make much money at all, so that would be really hard for me to handle financially. I have a few questions and would really appreciate hearing your experiences: • Has anyone had a dog get TPLO on one leg and never tear the other? I know the risk is high, but I’m hoping for some positive stories. • If your dog did end up tearing the other CCL and you couldn’t afford a second surgery, what did you do? How did your dog do long-term? • Has anyone gotten pet insurance after the first injury and had any luck getting coverage for the second leg? I recently got Pets Best for her (and my other big dog), but I’m not sure what to realistically expect. I am just feeling really overwhelmed and stressed trying to make the best decision for her while also being realistic about finances. Any advice, experiences, or even reassurance would mean so much right now 🤍 I feel like such a horrible, horrible owner and it is taking a large toll on my mental health.

pet insurance experience? probable chushings disease in 9 yo dog.

update - just checked and 24 hours later my claims (both er and family vet visits) have been approved! hi everyone, looking for some experiences shared on both pet insurance and cushings disease. to start off, i have had pet insurance on my 8yo for 3 years now, this is not a pre-existing condition. yesterday morning my dog seemed a bit wobbly, which isn’t normal for him but i made a mental note to monitor. a few hours later while i’m at work, my roommate texts me concerned about him. later that night he is unable to walk on uneven surfaces, and keeps falling over. i decide to go to the er where we find out his cortisol levels were 7x what they should be, with the vet absolutely shocked. she said that he absolutely could’ve had a stroke last night if his symptoms worsened so it was good we came in. we ran essentially a full workup for $1600. he had an appointment for his vet (that i had made yesterday before symptoms worsened) this morning where they ran a few more tests to confirm cushings disease (still waiting on those results.) $1200 later and i’m now $2800 down and have what will likely be a journey ahead of us to navigate this. how likely is it that pet insurance pill pay this out? i have pets best if that helps, the top tier plan. i would pay anything to keep him okay, but i’m also a 21 year old paying for college and bills. i am quite stressed and would just love some general advice, thoughts, anything really.
