Jiji 💕🥺

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share the story of how I got so lucky to be blessed with Jiji. She’s my baby girl and I love her soooo very much. I grew up having cats my entire childhood, but since starting my life as an adult and my husband allergic to cats and dogs, we’ve only had fish and a frog together. I’ve begged him for years to try and take allergy medicine so we could have a little kitty. I’m across the country from my mom who still has my childhood cats, but I really wanted one of our own to start our little family. In the summer of last year I was going through a heavy depression. My husband surprised me out of the blue asking if I wanted to go to the humane society to look at the cats they have. So we went, I didn’t expect to adopt that day, just to look and say hello to the kitties. In the back of my mind I really wanted a female black cat specifically, but if I bonded with another that would be fine too. We were in the cat condo playing with a large grey male cat, then I noticed a small black cat sleeping in a carrier in the same room. I went up to it and started petting it trying to wake it up to see if it was friendly or not. My husband pulled her paperwork from the wall and told me she’s a girl! She woke up after a few minutes, rubbed on my leg and meowed at me once. I immediately turned to my husband and said “She’s the one.” After about an hour of paperwork and setting up vet insurance for her, we took her home that night. Luckily my husband works at Petco so we stopped on the way home to get any and everything because we did not prepare to take home a kitty that day. The shelter workers said she may take a few days or weeks to fully come around and stop being scared. I understand that but have never experienced it, as when I was little I would befriend strays and eventually take them in. That’s how I got all of my childhood cats. After getting home and setting up, Jiji hid briefly for maybe 30 minutes. Then she was already jumping on m

Mystic Puzzle of the Day: Will Pet Insurance Reimburse Petco’s Vetco Package?

Do you have pet insurance? If so, how much do you pay per month and how high is your deductible?

I recently had to take my cat in twice to the vet and I submitted both bills, totaling about five hundred dollars, to my insurance. They said about $80 total qualified under the plan I had for him and they applied it to the deductible. Which means I got bupkis back. And since it was near the end of the year, the chances of me actually hitting the deductible were close to zero. I ended up talking to his insurance about this and from what they’ve said and my own calculations, I’d have to spend about $1,000, including my monthly payments, before I’d hit my deductible and they’d start actually giving me money back. Honestly, I don’t see the point of spending that money every month if they’re only going to apply a tiny fraction of the total bill towards the deductible so I can then still only be reimbursed for a tiny fraction of the total bill. I might as well just put that money aside myself and use this to pay for any vet bills that may come up, at least based off what they’ve told me so far. I also recently applied for and obtained a care credit card for him, so I can pay that off every month if need be. I also pay for Petco vital premier every month, for the discount on food and litter and that comes with annual exams. Do yall use pet insurance? What do your plans cover? How high is your monthly payments, and what’s your deductible? Has it been useful or has it been useless? I don’t want to get rid of his insurance if it’s actually going to be useful, but I’m currently having trouble seeing how it could be if this is how it works. Idk what I thought it was actually like, but clearly I was very wrong and if I can put the money to better use then I’d rather do that
