I got insurance for my older cat, a now 10 year old indoor only domestic long hair, several years ago at 80%/$250 and just realized the cost for this level of coverage has crept up to almost $190 a month as he's gotten older. Dropping the coverage to 50 or 60% reimbursement with a $1000 deductible, which are the only updated options Healthy Paws is now offering for him, would cut the monthly payment almost in half, but that's still around $100/mo. $190/mo seems like a bit much for pet insurance, but I'm not sure I want to drop his coverage by that much, either.
