Figo Pet Insurance

Can anyone tell me what this means in regards to pet insurance?

I currently have Trupanion for my 4 year old Corgi that I've had since we brought him home at 10 weeks, but its gotten increasingly expensive and I now am paying 144/month for his coverage. I have only ever been reimbursed twice by this insurance since we have had it. He has had a handful of issues off and on since we got him. He got giardia as a very young pup which took 3 vet visits for chronic diarrhea and multiple follow up visits. He has had an ear infection we had to treat him for. He had an eye infection we also had to get treatment for. He has a chicken intolerance that we also had to bring him in for as he had blood in his stool. Last year he got pancreatitis in late January/early February. I recently saw an ad for Figo pet insurance through Costco. They quoted me 50/month for a very good plan - 90% coverage with a $250 deductible and no annual limit. . This would save me quite a bit of money a month by switching, however my main concern is their clause regarding pre-existing conditions. It says on their website: **"Just like us, our pets come with medical histories. A pre-existing condition is any injury or illness whose symptoms were showing before the start of your pet’s policy, or during a relevant waiting period.**  **When it comes to insurance, a condition is considered pre-existing whether it’s been officially diagnosed or treated; all that matters is when the symptoms first started. At Figo, we determine pre-existing conditions based on the last 12 months of your pet’s medical history.** **We are unable to determine a specific condition’s eligibility until you submit a claim, but for clarity’s sake, here are two hypothetical-only situations that speak to our general thought process:** **- Your Cocker Spaniel puppy is treated for Giardia pre-policy, and three weeks after you enroll her, she develops a case of some particularly watery runs. Her diarrhea may be considered a pre-existing condition because it’s a clinical symptom of Giardia, a

Needing guidance/advice

Hello Reddit, i was hoping for some advice about what to do for our 5 year old sweet pup Kairi. Our girl was just diagnosed with a torn ACL (CCL). According to the vet, she’s going to need surgery, which is the end goal since it’s very expensive right now. I know, don’t get a dog if you can’t afford a dog, but we just recently had to buy a new car because our old car died, and with both of us working 9-5 jobs that don’t pay great, the debt is piling and we are drowning. She has figo pet insurance which doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions. The vet did tell us this wasn’t considered pre existing, though according to figo this \*could\* be considered pre existing. So we’d be completely out of pocket. We just got a prescription for carprofen yesterday which she is to take half a pill twice daily, but I read that this medication can be hard on their stomach, so I don’t know if this is great long term until we can get the surgery. The vet also recommended a medication called Librela, but she’s only 5 and we read that the long term effects are no good. Since she’s young, I don’t want her taking that long term, I don’t know if I trust it at all. We started her on the carprofen today, and I think we see improvement? Yesterday they did a drawer test on her which left her almost unable to walk, but today she seems to be doing a lot better, maybe after rest, maybe after taking carprofen about 5 hours ago. Who knows? She already takes the Ventri-Science healthy hip & joint supplements daily, and has been on them for about 3 months. The vet told us to keep her on these, and maybe even give her another kind of supplement to help strengthen other parts of her leg/hips. We don’t know where to go from here. She’s on carprofen, we bought her a doggy knee brace that should be getting here tomorrow, she’s on the supplement, we are putting her on a diet (doc says she’s a little chunky, but not obese) but she can’t exercise to lose the weight, I’m so sad for her quality of l

Costco Figo pet insurance

After researching, I chose to go with figo and also got the discount from Costco. I’ve been using it for less than a year for my pup and haven’t had any issues with submitting claims or receiving the reimbursements.
