Pet insurance - which one to choose? 14 week Sheltie had for 6 days.

Does anyone else have pet insurance on their puppy? I looked into several different ones and settled on ASPCA, but I honestly didn't do much research beyond getting quotes. Now I'm wondering if I made a bad choice?

Using ASPCA insurance and it’s good - especially if you are looking for more preventative. Their claims processing is fast. We had trupanion to start but it doesn’t cover anything preventive.

Has anyone used Prudent Pet

I'm comparing pet insurance and I never see anyone talk about Prudent Pet. TrustPilot gives it a 4.9 and PawlicyAdvisor gives it a 9.6 coverage score and 9.4 Lifetime Value. the cost per month for 2 cats is less than ASPCA or Lemonade. Thanks!

Please be careful with your medications!

I feel like every pet owner knows, but it doesn't hurt to pop up from time to time. This is a reminder to be careful with your meds around your pets. If you think that your pet might have been poisoned, call **ASPCA Poison Control (888) 426-4435** before going to an emergancy vet. They are professional toxicologists that can access your situation and communicate with your vets if you need to go in order to keep your pets protected. The rest of this is my experience with a toxicity scare. [Sprout on her IV in her room at the clinic](https://preview.redd.it/n3hewfcphhng1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=bc42dd5c7c1124b78d292ed60c0c4f5c68bbc732) This is Sprout. She is a food goblin. A little raccoon. She rushes for any sign of food and will often consume without thinking. I had cramps, got out my Aleve in the dark, took one. I usually pour the amount I need into the cap, but poured too many this time. And forgot, cause I was tired. Turned the cap over to put it back on the bottle, and I hear something drop. Couldn't see a thing. I get the light cause groping around in the dark for pills wasn't working, and once I can see, I spot her crouched down and chewing. I found 2 pills by her. Cue me grabbing her head like she owes me money to see if she got one into her mouth, only to feel her swallow, and see nothing between her teeth. One google search later, and 3 phone calls between an emergency vet and **ASPCA Poison Control (888) 426-4435**, and within minutes, I'm taking Sprout to the vet at 1AM. **Naproxen is HIGHLY toxic to animals. Not just cats. So keep a damn good eye on those NSAIDS. They can cause stomach ulcers and kidney failure in animals, along with a lot of other nasty things. It's so toxic that by the time there are symptoms, it could be too late.** [The night I came to visit her before pick up.](https://preview.redd.it/4kyzf4yajhng1.png?width=1916&format=png&auto=webp&s=c56f3ea6cf51990d8b6c7ec97045465f98c91aa3) Sprout had

Pet Insurance - Questioning for Seniors

Hey y'all, I wanted to read some different opinions on pet insurance. I have a 12yo beagle and a 15yo beagle/chihuahua mix (rescue), and wanted to ask if it's worth it to get pet insurance. The vet we typically take them to is shutting down (we would get a nice low-income discount on all services, rip), and my family is curious about getting pet insurance. I've looked at a few different places (MetLife, ASPCA, Figo, etc) and for my 12yo it's about $140ish a month, with my 15yo being around $110ish a month. Do any of y'all have insurance for your seniors? Both are generally healthy, my 15yo has a heart murmur, decent teeth, and he's getting a tumor removed before our vet closes. My 12yo had torn his ACL in 2020, and ruptured a disk in 2022, fully recovered, with minor arthritis. He's got his old man lumps and bumps, but nothing out of the ordinary. I'm kinda at a crossroads on what to do because I've always just paid things out of pocket for them, and I don't really know if it would be wise or a waste of money to get insurance. I would love to hear some other thoughts!

Pet insurance recommendations?

Hi everyone, I’m seriously considering the adoption of a very lovely 2 year old female cat. She has a previous history of hookworm, and has suffered severe gingivitis that has progressed so badly that she’s had two teeth removed already. The shelter informed me that she’d need routine dental cleanings to keep things at bay. I also already have a (healthy) 1 year old kitten with no previous health issues. Are there any recommendations on affordable pet insurance providers that provide •**Annual wellness visits** **•Preventative care** •**Dental cleanings** \*\*with preexisting conditions included!\*\*\* I’ve done research and am currently considering ASPCA, but I’ve heard many horror stories about claims being denied!
